Home Improvement, Reimagined
The first Lowe’s hardware store was founded 100 years ago, in 1921.
Lowe’s Innovation Labs is building the next 100 years of Lowe’s. We exist to change the face of home improvement retail, and to help Lowe’s thrive for decades to come. We specialize in emerging technologies, and take a deliberately long-term view — what our customers' expectations will be, what the concept of home will be, and what retail will look like — in order to deliver meaningful change today.
Areas of Exploration
At Lowe’s Innovation Labs, we obsess over a future in which home improvement is frictionless, in which expertise is distributed in new ways, and in which our customers are in full control over their homes.
Emerging and exponential technologies are accelerating this future, and our team brings both in-house expertise and external partnerships to harness them on behalf of Lowe’s customers and associates.
Spatial computing, mixed reality, robotics, AI, next-generation building materials and methodologies – we explore all of these and more to build the future. A few of our focus areas include:
Our Team
Within Lowe’s Innovation Labs, three distinct functions collaborate to develop, test and scale new capabilities and experiences:

Ecosystem creates and fast-tracks prototypes by building alongside startups, universities, global technology leaders, and other unexpected partners
Development serves as the primary connection point to Lowe’s enterprise leaders and shepherds promising projects from early prototype to scale and integration
Lowe’s Innovation Labs has space in Kirkland, WA, Charlotte, NC, and Bangalore, India, with representation in other U.S. tech markets.
